Now that you’re website is all setup, you will be posting new property listings on your website periodically. To assist you in this process, the entire process is laid out below.
Before you get started, you need to pick up to 6 of the best pictures you have that portray your new listing in a positive manner. High quality and properly framed photos are your best bet. Resize these pictures into two sets of images, a full-size image (which we will refer to as “image.jpg”) and a thumbnail version of each full-size image (which we will refer to as “thumb_image.jpg”). Basic Steps for Posting a New Listing
- Login to your Real Estate Website (http://yourdomain.com/content/wp-admin)
- Go to Posts > Add New
- Fill in the Title field with an appropriate title.
- Try to use something catchy and distinctive
- Fill in the description with your general description.
- This will be the description that shows on the main content of property listing page.
- Set the Single Post Template dropdown menu from “Blog Post” to “Property Listing”
- This will ensure your new post shows up with the additional “Real Estate” fields listed below this option. To make an ordinary blog post, keep this setting as “Blog Post”.

- Fill in the General Property Info fields with the respective information (eg. Listing Price: $999,999, MLS #: 123456, etc.).
- Fill in the Property Details fields with the property information.
- For additional remarks about the listing, insert your comments or additional information into “Additional Features”, this will show up at the bottom of the property listing page.
- Listing Images: Enter your image urls that you have in an open Notepad window after following the Resize your Property Images tutorial. There are 12 alternating fields, 6 for the full-size image URL’s (locations) and 6 for the thumbnail versions of each image.
- Featured Listings: If you would like to have the new listing featured on the Front Page of your website, you need to select the Featured category. Select any other categories you would your new listing to appear in.
- Choose your best image and create a custom field named “articleimg”. For it’s value, enter the Image URL of the best looking image on your listing.
- Add a new custom field named “thumbnail”. For it’s value, enter the thumbnail URL to match the image you chose forĀ your “articleimg”.
- Add a new custom field named “featuredtext” with the caption text you would like displayed on the front-page fading display.
